When I bought my Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5. 6 EX DC HSM for Nikon Digital Cameras SLR, 14 months ago, I did not know what to expect. I’ve never used 3rd party lenses and super-wide, but quickly learned to love the lens and created opportunities. Goodbye to the lens a week ago (still kicking), I decided to give a new model for a spin a little faster.
On this basis, or even photographs of the sample are rare, and even some elements seem difficult to start at the beginning of next year: < br />
* Like his predecessor, HSM this model, so all Nikon DSLR users can benefit from this lens (D700, D3, D3X, and the user will be limited in terms )
? * Like its predecessor, is a heavy well-built lens, which in Japan
* It is equivalent in size and weight of the original, but the 82 mm front thread for it will take some getting used to < ; br /> * Although the former model is extended to 10 millimeters and is difficult to extend to ‘big’ end is the color of a new 16-13mm, and extends slightly wide and long maturity.
* EX finish is a tad more sophisticated, and is now AF / MF switch (AF full bypass is available). Focus ring is a bit harsh, but it is good business to do so. AF is paukkuen!
* Sigma seems to check the rear element was added to our little piece of plastic to minimize reflections
* You can also find more diaphragm blades and better Bokeh
sunstars * Only in case you are wondering, this lens works just like the Nikon lens with full functionality
I’ll post pictures, but usually equal to or better than the previous lens. In addition to wide-angle 1 / 3 is almost worth mentioning, but throughout the year, taking 1 1 / 3 more light. These changes do not go beyond that, because now is the SLD and ELD glasses (previous version), and there are more spherical glass. If this does not mean anything to you, just know all of this will help a great lens!
This is a very difficult design focal length, especially if the cost and size are concerned, that the lens is not perfect in this area. Despite this, Sigma seemed to have used the experiences of the previous 10-20mm to create a very sophisticated and very competent lens. If the filming f / 3 5 you can see some softness, and corners, but really is not that limiting. The break up f / 5 6 “substantially and development, and peeks into f/8-11 (perhaps f/13 is 6MP sensor).
From 18 – # # zoom; For a whole new perspective, the opportunity to discover a new world of photography, and get to work in the construction of the lens much better than the lens kit.
come from other super-wide-There may be a reason to change (you sold me is for different reasons), but nearly the speed X116PRDXN Tokina AT-AT-X PRO DX 11-16mm ultra-wide angle lens for Nikon and get faster shutter and a good zoom lens as the first ultra-Gen wides, as the Nikon 12-24mm f/4G ED IF Autofocus DX Nikkor zoom lens or the Tokina AT – XAF124DXN 12-24mm wide angle lens for Nikon.

A comparison of test and pictures taken and the Sigma 10-20 f / 3 5, with Nikon 16-85 VRII me, I believe my sharpest lens. The photographs were taken Nikon D5000, the attitude is established, not digital sharpening, stationary targets of my living room wall about six meters. Targets included the paper corner, and the large U.S. map, middle, and a variety of elements and a little color. Lighting home the image of the lamps and flood lights. Images were compared side by side is a 200% enlargement.
Sigma 10-20 is not as sharp as the Nikon 16-85 right in the center of the image can be compared with the focal lengths (16mm and 20mm) and the holes, but was close to f / 5, and almost the same as f / 8 The edges of the image, however, Sigma 10-20 was intense, sharper and had better contrast of all f-stops testing (3 5-8). I have to compare the Sigma 10-20 lens and shorter focal lengths, but imaging tests might indicate a very good good acidity, similar to an older Sigma 10-20.
Sigma 10-20 Focus speed is very fast and low noise, similar to the Nikon 16-85. It is a variant, but the reproducibility of the auto focus seems to be a reasonable margin of error, and probably not noticeable in most photos. Sigma zoom action is smoother than the Nikon. The lens is slightly larger and heavier than the Nikon.
Chromatic aberration / fringing color has been reported as a problem for many wide-angle lenses, this lens also. I’ll post about it when shooting high contrast scenes around the outside, though I think that is important.
This is the second copy of my lens. The first copy was a little backwards to focus on the problem in the short focal length 10 mm distances shown variations in performance of AF vs manual focus to achieve optimal sharpness. Visually, the first piece appeared as sharp and this, perhaps it would be acceptable to most users.
The first edit 9-30-09: External images posted in the gallery. The lens performed well in the production of table good color and contrast. Incineration is when lens is tilted toward the sun. I took the lens cap and shade, and suggest the hood in most cases. At 10mm, sharpness is acceptable in F3. 5 in the center and rather soft edges. Definition of the limbs, seems to be good enough is f4. 5. Color fringing is clearly a high contrast image edges with neighboring regions, but was not as bright as apppear raw 8×10 prints. It was relatively easy to reduce the diffraction is a non-issue of CA repair of Adobe CS4. Auto focus is accurate. Overall, I am very pleased with this lens and I would say that beyond my expectations in clarity and Vignetting, but I hope that the CA is better controlled. I will keep this lens, but the older version (f4-5. 6) have been reported to be as good or perhaps better in some issues and suggest F3. 5 lens only if the constant loop of your choice.

I bought this lens with the idea that if he had done professionally, I return. I LOVE my safety with the Amazon 30-day money back guarantee.
A long story short, I shot about 200 images of flowers and close to the macro. Almost all the watchdogs – and I have several 16×24 canvas gallery wrap prints mega pixels. Got them today and is, in short, amazing.
I continue to discuss the Nikon 12-24 2 8, will be used and the D90 and D700 to maximize the focal lengths, as I have a 20 or so between the ages of Nikon Lenses 2009 vintage 1975 glass.
All is well, and have three other objectively – it is so funny and sharp as this. When time permits, and the budget allows, I will compare the Nikon 12-24, but let’s face it – costs three times and is generally regarded as an achievement of Nikon.
If you buy the F3. 5 Sigma, I can not imagine it will be anything but pleasant.
Good luck – I’m looking for feedback.

A lens can be judged only in connection with a specific camera body as it may perform differently with different sensors. So, I can speak about it together with the Nikon D300.
From the specifications, it seemed to be a better lens in comparison with equivalent range lenses of other brands including the new Nikon 10-24.
I was long tempted by the new Tokina 12-24 DXII but I wanted to start with a 10 mm rather than a 12 mm in order to justify the gain by the new purchase over the 16-85 mm Nikon lens which I already had. Also, I both tested the new Tokina and Nikon at a professional fair and from the few indoor shots that I took I was a bit disappointed, not as sharp as I would expect and unacceptable chromatic aberrations showed up, although distorsion compensation was OK. So I thought it was worth waiting for the new sigma. That Sigma is able to provide good lenses I had already proof with the 70 mm f2. 8 macro, excellent one. Thus, in the end I dared to buy this as soon as it came out even before reading any reviews. I wish I could read at least one though to feel a bit surer. For this reason I want to share soon my experience with those who are wondering as I did, hoping to be of some help.
So, briefly put, I have no regret. This is the lens I have long waiting for. Image quality is the most important factor for me and I am not disappointed. Sharp, excellent correction of chromatic aberrations, reduction of flare. Slightly soft edges especially at large apertures, but since I typically use a tripod then I can use higher F stops and low iso even in low light conditions and then image quality is superb. It’s not the fixed 3. 5, which I don’t need much, to make the real difference over other lenses but the combination of glasses, I believe.
If you want to see some images that I took with this lense, although not at full resolution, visit my website:
[. . . ] (look at the gallery under the category new, the wide angle images have been taken with the Sigma 10-20 f3. 5, the close up ones with the Sigma 70mm f2.

I bought this lens based on the recent MacWorld test and buy a Sigma. I am very happy with 50 ~ 150 mm, but returned this lens. I would like, but still focus on the problems and Unsharp images. It seems to want to focus the lens to infinity has no objection to a few meters. Sometimes it goes beyond what Infinity is not selected. The last straw was a series of outdoor photos, f / 8, in which the lens is continuiously. I use the Nikkor 12-24mm before retirement. I see no resolution given that the lens. I finally got back to Sigma. I bought a used Nikkor and I am happy. I want to buy half a retailer Sigma in a strong return policy. I believe that they are able to create great lenses, and quality control of the means that you should try before you buy.
