Amazon bought the HF10 and I love it, the unbelievable. HF20 is the next generation, that the line camera and will produce. MTS file format (AVCHD) records high-definition. I just want to warn all potential buyers that the situation PIXELA software manual for the minimum to really be able to view / edit the high-res video from this camera, it is true, and can not be ignored : I have a Pentium 4 @ 3 6GHz, and 2 GB of RAM and a video card PCIX and is not stable enough to video (using the player software PIXELA) wihtout dropping frames! System or the amount of video RAM is not necessary, either fast CPU Pentium D, Pentium-class Core 2 Duo (at least), CPU (native compatible w / Intel chipset), or you can actually play / edit Supreme APE videos that comes out of this camera! (Note that you can record video on the computer hard drive, DVD, etc., but do not play well, and edit). Reproduction and treatment may be possible to reduce the system, but the yield is likely to leave you unhappy. Hopefully this will help your search.

Functionally, this camera is great. . . . light, compact, and has amazing picture quality. Oblique controls. Only caution is that most people can not make use of the excellent image quality is not the Blu-ray and Blu-ray player, such as iMovie, and many other quality programs was a reduction in quality and you can not burn the HD-DVD quality movies on a regular basis. This is not the fault of this camera, however, all high-tech HD cameras than most people can now access.
The main gripe is the reason for the reduction of a star, is otherwise an incredibly designed Cameras Canon uses a mini Advanced Accessory “and” accessories “(and it took about 15 minutes to find two different shoes … could not even imagine that there are two different types of consumer equipment footwear !!?).< br />
The first mini I think the shoe only a very few products, and of course does not fit into any of the use of “Advanced accessories.” I found this when I’m apparently accidentally ordered the DM-50 microphone that does not fit.
Mini shoe is a silly idea in the first place, and, above all, Canon has intentionally designed the product lines of the conflict. Something microphones, lights flashing, etc., should be cross-compatible with all the production lines and if you have any other products of Canon, it would be, for example, does not apply to the purchase of accessories is repeated almost the same, because they could not use them in different cameras of Canon. Why do so is something beyond understanding.

HF20 video is very good. Camera connected to my 1080p TV, which is $ 5. 00 cable HDMI, I could not believe the picture quality.
Grip on my pictures of the night, the video is too noisy. Still images are also bad in low light. I know it’s autofocus is sensing the reflected beam of infrared or something. But in low light conditions seems to be lost or take a long time.
I do not even use the software Canon provides. Windows Vista does not recognize. MTS files. So I had Window RC-7 and works well when the camera is connected to a PC, Win-7 began to make copies. And MTS. jpg files to your hard drive, then played.

When it comes to filming, and what looks good, the lighting is everything. As you have adaquate light shot, HF20 get sharp, vivid picture very similar to HDTV. AVCHD is gaining support, and my Mac is as easy to work with P2 shots. Both iMovie and Final Cut Pro (version 7) can easily swallow footage from the camera. I highly recommend flexible, and a shotgun microphone sits in the hot shoe, and a larger battery capacity. With 32 MB of storage, you have a better battery before you can always expect the memory of a shoot. Very easy to use, and very positive results.

I bought this camera a week ago and took some time to play with it. Not yet used, if the editing software because I use the Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. We need a fairly beefy computer to play / edit these files, but they look good! Transfer files to the camera very quickly (faster than tape in real time). I think I was able to transfer the material for about 30 minutes about 6 minutes to USB2. 0. Includes composite and component cables, so you can watch videos directly from the camera, and almost all TV (no need to edit and transfer to your computer). You can buy a separate cable HDMI, if you want to connect to an HDMI TV may, but is not necessary if your TV is part of the mm (camera has a choice between SD and HD Component Out)
< ; br /> I love all the manual tasks such as setting the exposure, exposure and focus. . . . is for all who want to “make a plan.” Along with the manual but can be set to fully automatic. . . . Point and shoot! I am impressed by the fact that the video mode also uses the Face Detection technology Canon, so can not really follow the person (or) and the video should focus on the important issue!
Some drawbacks to the camera is that the stock battery lasts only about 90 minutes, which seems little me. I got a spare $ 60 around the upcoming road trip. Another thing for me is that you must connect the camera to a wall power to transfer files to the internal memory. I guess that makes sense, does not want to lose power while tranferring files, but it is like the inconvenience. There is a possibility to copy files on your SD, which can then be installed on your computer. . . . but it is a step in the same way. It is not too large, however, and many others.
Generally I like that. It is a small, easy to use and has some nice features manual. Built-in flash if you need it, great videos in this price range. You can read more about this if you want:
